Electrical Testing

In-depth testing with calibrated PAT equipment, covering earth continuity, insulation resistance and lead polarity - for higher-risk equipment and environments.

When is electrical testing needed?

Electrical testing goes beyond a standard PAT test to look at the specific electronic parameters of each appliance - how effectively it's earthed, whether its insulation is intact, and whether its wiring is correct. It's particularly important for Class I appliances (those with metal cases connected to earth), power tools, and equipment in harsh or wet environments.

Commercial kitchens, construction sites, and manufacturing environments typically require more frequent and more thorough testing. Our calibrated equipment and experienced engineers ensure every measurement is accurate and defensible.

What's included

  • Full visual inspection before any electronic test
  • Earth continuity test (Class I appliances)
  • Insulation resistance measurement
  • Lead polarity check
  • Substitute leakage test where required
  • Pass or fail recorded per appliance with test readings
  • Physical PASS or FAIL tag applied on the day
  • Detailed digital certificate with individual test values

Microwave emissions testing

We also carry out specialist microwave emissions testing using a calibrated microwave survey meter. This test checks that microwave ovens are not leaking harmful levels of microwave radiation - a requirement in commercial kitchens and catering environments under health and safety legislation.

Microwave leakage is invisible and odourless, meaning it is only detectable with proper test equipment. We measure leakage levels against the recognised safety threshold and provide a written result as part of your compliance records.

How it works

  1. 1

    Site assessment

We discuss your equipment types and usage environment to confirm the right testing approach and frequency.

  2. 2

    On-site testing

Our engineer uses calibrated test equipment to run each measurement. Results are logged individually per appliance.

  3. 3

    Tagging and reporting

Every item is tagged with its result. Failed items are flagged with the reason - so you know exactly what needs attention.

  4. 4

    Certificate and renewal tracking

You receive a detailed digital report, and we note your retest frequency based on equipment type and risk level.
